VFR Over-the-Top Rating

VFR over-the-top rating

Once you have a private pilot license, you can continue training to achieve a VFR OTT Rating, which allows you to fly over broken or overcast clouds between you and your destination, provided that you don't have to fly through them to get there. Though not necessary, it can be a stepping stone towards an instrument rating.

  • 15 hours total instrument flying time of which 5 can be ground instrument (simulator)

**Instrument flight training accomplished in obtaining a Private Pilot License or night rating may be credited towards VFR-OTT
