Commercial Pilot Licence

commercial pilot license  (Cpl)

* Due to high demand, NFC is experiencing a 12-18 month delay in training. Please email us to be added to the waitlist.

Once you have a private pilot license, you can continue training to achieve a commercial pilot license, which allows you to receive compensation (i.e. payment) for the flying that you do.

Ground School

You are required to complete 80 hours of ground school training to get your commercial license. Currently we do not offer commercial pilot ground school. There is an online option at Harv’s air. Their online ground school is comprehensive and will do a great job preparing you for the written exam. You can find it at the following link:

 What To Expect

To complete your commercial license, you will have to build flight time in order to accumulate the minimum 200 hours required. You will need 100 hours PIC and 200 hours Total time. This makes it hard to give students a set cost or timeline for their CPL since everyone will progress at different speeds in their training. Weather also affects how fast you can complete your training.

The following are the requirements for a Commercial Pilot License:

  • At least 60% on the Commercial Pilot License (CPAER)

  • Successfully pass a Commercial Pilot Flight Test within the previous 12 months. (TP 13462E)

**The CPL course qualifies for student aid. You can get up to $15,000 in student loans for the CPL course alone.
